Glen Campbell Interested in fashion from the age of 11, Glen's first fashion statement was a suit from Ray Allen, worn with a dog-eared shirt and a huge Afro. Leeds-born Glen started his working life as a hairdresser with Vidal Sassoon, but soon changed direction when the opportunity came up to buy for a new shop in Leeds called Strand. In 1988 Glen opened his own store, Union, selling mainly British Designer labels. Its interior (which Glen designed) featured in many fashion magazines for its distinct colour and shelving. Glen's TV break came in 1991, when he was spotted by Yorkshire Television after organising and choreographing a fashion show in Leeds. YTV employed him straight away as their stylist on the Calendar Fashion Show where he stayed for two years, but his effervescent personality soon saw him rise to the position of presenter! The following year Granada TV gave him his own fashion series entitled Passion, but he rose to most people's attention in September 1995 when he joined ITV's This Morning, where he was a regular fashion contributor for the next four years - and also branched out into travel reporting! It wasn't too long before Glen became the show’s celebrity interviewer, building up an impressive portfolio of star interviews including a world exclusive with Woody Allen. He then worked on the BBC’s Vanessa where he teamed up with Sara Cox for Fashion Snoopers, a daily makeover feature set in UK shopping centres. It was so popular that when the Vanessa show ended the Glen's section was still shown daily on as a standalone programme! In 1999, Glen joined GMTV to present fashion features, and stayed with Granada to present House Style, a home makeover show. He's also been a regular contributor on UK Living's SOS Relationships, Channel 5's Open House, Yorkshire Tonight, and a plethora of local radio stations. Glen's no stranger to shopping TV either - and now he's at QVC, he'll be drawing on his vast range of experience in the world of fashion and home interiors! |
